ACLU Sues to Learn Protocols for Government Hacking

In these modern times of smartphones and the internet of things, it doesn’t surprise many people at all that governments are involved in hacking. And it’s not just foreign governments.

U.S. law enforcement has been hacking criminals, particularly cyber-criminals, for years now. Unfortunately for the criminals and the public, not much is known about the methods being used and what protocols are in place to prevent abuse. To remedy this lack of information, the ACLU has filed a lawsuit seeking to uncover what policies govern the FBI, ICE, and the DEA’s use of hacking technologies and techniques.
