LOOKING TO THE 118th CONGRESS: The Congressional deck was reshuffled in interesting and unexpected ways last week, with Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) notching a win in Georgia’s run-off on Dec. 6 and, later in the week, Arizona’s Sen. Kyrsten Sinema announcing that she will be leaving the Democratic Party and registering as an independent.
The shakeup is expected to have more of an effect on committee investigations and tax-related nominations — like that of President Joe Biden’s nominee for IRS commissioner, Danny Werfel — than tax policy.
