Just how much chaos could the Supreme Court toss into the tax system?
The answer: Quite a bit, Pro Tax’s Brian Faler notes this morning, pointing to the upcoming arguments in the tax case known as Moore v. United States.
Part of the issue here is that the nine justices are legal experts, yes — but they’re not exactly tax law experts. And that has left lots of people who are deep in the minutiae of the tax code worried that the court’s conservative majority, in a potential zeal to head off a wealth tax, could upend decades’ worth of established precedent within the system.
